Project: Room to Grow
Home is where memories are made, and for this young family of four, it was time to make their
space truly their own. With a busy lifestyle and unique needs, they sought a design solution
that would not only enhance their living experience but also offer room to grow. The result is a
newly designed space that is more functional without compromising its style. Here’s how our
team breathed new life into their cherished home.
A primary suite perched perfectly above the garage:
The addition of a primary suite over the garage was a pivotal decision for this family. Our design
team recognized that a private space for mom and dad was paramount in a home with 2 young,
active kids. They needed their own private sanctuary to unwind and recharge at the end of the
day. Our team designed a newfound spacious en-suite perched above the garage, providing
these parents a haven from the bustling life of a family with young kids. The new primary suite
was thoughtfully designed with every detail in mind, including a modern primary bath and an
array of closets.
Of course, this project wasn’t just about expanding, it was about optimizing too! Our team
brought a creative touch to the front dormer, where style now meets functionality. We added a
window seat that serves as more than an inviting nook, it also cleverly conceals the HVAC
system.
Can you live in New England without a mudroom? We think not!
In any home, especially one in New England and with young kids, a mudroom is a game-
changer. Originally, this home only had one point of entry at the front of the house. Our team
recognized the importance of a more convenient entry and designed a much-needed mudroom
and side entry by replacing the small pantry off the kitchen.
Now this family can keep the chaos under control! The new mudroom provides ample space for
coats, shoes, bags, and more, resulting in a smooth transition into the home.
